THE NEST NEWSLETTER

Number 4

- FROM EAGLE WIND RV PARK - B.C.'S PREMIER RV BIG RIG PARK

Welcome back to Nest, or it is your first time. Welcome! Spring has spring, the grass is looking riz and we have had our first 2 RV Rally's here at Eagle Wind RV. This being our first spring season, I had no idea what to expect and it was a very pleasant surprise to have such great guests. The Cloverdale Seniors and the Burna-Bee's stay for 3 night each and the Great Room finally got used for cards, puzzles and pot luck. The hot tub was well used and I haven't seen so many people out walking around the loop so ready for this warmer weather. If you have time this week we have have a booking special if you want to get comfortable with our online booking system, you will get a free night!

We are looking forward to the BC Summer Games in Langley, BC this summer. It will bring many families here to see thier athletes compete. This will be on top of the already full range of events that happen in the area, from dog agility trials, baseball, swimming and the many family reunions that will happen over the next few months!

For those of us in business, the marketing efforts never stop, and we have had great company at the local Chamber of Commerce dinners and I have had time to work on my Campground Managers Certificate now I have finished a university degree at U.F.V. We have had many guests who I have been so thankful to for their help. Just last week Stella helped get the primulas in the garden. When we need a night out at the movies, Mike and Sierra watch over the place, and the gates lock at 11 pm for a little extra security. It is the little things that make it all come together in the end and feel like a great place to be through the seasons.

sign up for our newsletter and you won't miss the next special!

The Great Room

For those of you that were here before the Great Room was open, we are very proud of this large welcoming space. Since it opening less that 4 months ago we have had a Sweet 16 birthday party, The Greater Vancouver Zoo Christmas Party, numerous networking events, UFC night and a wedding rehearsal dinner.

Newsletter Number Two

It has been a long wait, but Eagle Wind RV is finally open and happily serving RV and tenting guests from all over B.C., the U.S. and the world. In the past few weeks we have had tourists here from Holland, Switzerland, Spain and Germany. Local guest have been baseball teams from Prince George and many grandparents visiting kids, and families from close by just wanting to get away from the usual grind of things or test out thier new RV's before hitting the road.

The pool and hot tub have been fully utilized through the July '09 heat wave, and the new grass has survived in good form through our dry spell. The fire ban hasn't stopped the propane fire pits from being used and has added to the atmosphere. Many new trees and shrubs have been planted in the past few weeks, with more to come once the weather cools off. The landscaping will continue for the next few months as the weather cools down. The cool shade of the trees combined with the pool has also had us attract unexpected and welcome guests, just to picnic and get out of the heat for the day. Other unexpected guest were a family of robins in the late spring, which I got to document from egg to empty nest, it is amazing how quickly the chicks grew. Now we have attracted a beautiful long island rooster and I understand his mate is possibly hiding some eggs somewhere close by. While these were not the pair of eagles I hoped to see return from the fall, we can help our neighbors, the Greater Vancouver Zoo, fundraise for thier new Eagle Enclosure in the meantime.

For those of you who have visited the clubhouse during its completion, you will know we have men’s and women’s showers inside, an exterior laundry room and bathrooms outside that are open all night. We have just installed a new BBQ patio and all the new picnic tables have finally arrived. Each site is now fully equipped with water, power (50 or 30 amp service) with free Wifi onsite. Our great room still has some work to go, but once the cedar wrap is up, it will complement the Whistler style room, with slate fireplace, small bar/kitchen and tile floor which will be available to rent for those RV groups looking for a place to get together or for small conferences, wedding and meetings. The clubhouse also includes a fulltime caretaker and as time goes by we will get a small shop up and running to service tourist and camping requirements with the help of Fraser Way RV and other suppliers.

So if you have in-laws visiting, that need a place for the week, you would like to just get away or want to be a little closer to a sporting event the kids are involved in, please stop by or book with us and stay at a refreshingly spacious campground that is convenient to many of the lower mainland and the Might Fraser Valley Region activities.

All for now,

There is 1.4 million hectares to explore just in our district, much of which is covered in mountains, parks, and rivers. Farming is a central part of life in the Fraser Valley; if you would like see what farm life is like, check out the Circle Farm Tours that are sponsored in part by the district and our Vancouver, Coast and Mountains Official Tourism Site. From mountain biking, kayaking, snowboarding, skiing, horseback riding, white water rafting and so much more, you can Explore BC from Eagle Wind RV.

If you are wondering where Aldergrove is, it just outside of Metro Vancouver and when there is no traffic, I can get to one of my favorite little bistros on Main Street, Vancouver, in 30 minutes. The new Golden Ear's Bridge will open in June 2009, which will give greater access to the North Shore of the Fraser River with much more ease. On the North Shore you will find Grouse Mountain, Cypress Mountain and Seymour Mountain. All these resorts have a host of winter and summer activities from skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, outdoor skating, hiking trails, animal exhibits and wonderful bars and restaurants. The view of the City of Vancouver from the mountains at night is breathtaking.

Aldergrove has a small town feel, with the lower mainland's only drive-in movie theater (Twilight Drive-In) , bowling and lots of antique shops and restaurants to choose from. Just 15 minutes from the US Border(check link for wait times) , we are close to the discount outlets and many great little towns that visitors flock to in Washington State for their flowers, history and other events. There are also major grocery stores close by, to pick up any supplies you would need if we don't have them available on site.

While exploring the countryside, one great stop is Historic Fort Langley, they have annual parades, many small shops along a boardwalk that is always buzzing with people checking out the hat store, toys, antiques, new and used bookshops as well as a new paddling center for those who want to get out on the river.

Just up the road in Langley City and the Township of Langley, they have a variety of activities, with the airport right in town; access to getting above the Fraser Valley is possible! Check out the Langley Tourism site for activities in the sky, on the water, equestrian sports and much more. Langley also hosts a casino and they are on your way to horse racing as well.

Overall, our location is central to so many activities and amenities, just off of the Trans-Canada Highway at the 264 Street(Highway 13) Exit, we are convenient to many travelers and guests visiting family in the Fraser Valley. Our staff has taken time to do the Super Host program with our tourism board and is waiting to greet you when you get here!

That is all for now! If you have time it would help us serve you better if you filled out our survey or if you would like to publish and article please send it though.

Look forward to meeting you!
